Who told you who you were supposed to be?

author - speaker - artist

Professional questioner of rules we never agreed to.

Most of us were creative

before somebody taught us not to be.

We knew how to make things, invent things, dress up, draw, dance, sing badly, ask awkward questions and follow our curiosity.

Then we learned the rules.

Be sensible. Get it right. Don't embarrass yourself. You're not artistic. You're too much. You're too old. That's not a proper job. People like you don't do things like that.

I'm interested in what happens when we start questioning those rules.

I'm Jools Riddell — author, speaker and artist — and my work explores creativity, identity, neurodivergence and the strange business of becoming more of who you actually are, rather than who you were told to be.

You probably don’t need fixing.

You might just need to question the instructions.

SPEAKING

Who told you you weren't creative — and why did you believe them?

A little mindfuck can change everything.
